The Bridge Enginerd
Privacy Policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
In short: we collect what is needed to run the forum and sell calc sheets, we do not sell your data or use advertising or tracking, and you can ask us to delete your account.
Who is responsible
The Bridge Enginerd is operated by Nirav Khanal, a sole proprietor in Missouri, USA. For any privacy question or request, email niravkhanal@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Sign-in details. When you sign in with Google (through Firebase Authentication) we receive your name, email address, profile photo and a user ID.
- Your forum profile and posts. Your display name, photo, credential, location, bio, signature, posts, replies, images and "helpful" stars are stored in our database and shown publicly. Profile pages are not offered to search engines. Reports you file go only to moderators.
- Watching and alerts. Threads you watch and the alerts we create for you.
- Purchases. When you buy, Stripe collects your payment details and billing information. We receive your name, email, billing country and postal code, the product, the amount, the status of the payment or subscription, and the last four digits and brand of your card. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Paid calc sheets. To generate a calc sheet we receive the tool inputs and the project details you entered (such as project name, bridge number and the names in the header). We store them with the generated PDF so you can download it again.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase / Google Cloud) records technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and operation.
Stored only in your browser
Your theme choice and the project details you type into the tools are saved in your own browser's local storage and are not sent to us until you generate a paid calc sheet. A short-lived marker in session storage stops a forum thread's view from being counted twice. We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- to run the Site, the forum and your account;
- to process payments, deliver calc sheets and manage subscriptions;
- to answer your questions and send service emails such as receipts, renewal reminders and changes to our terms;
- to keep the Site secure, prevent abuse and meet legal and tax obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the providers that run the Site for us, each under their own privacy terms: Google (Firebase hosting, authentication, database and cloud functions) and Stripe (payments; see stripe.com/privacy). We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Site and its users.
How long we keep it
- Account and forum data: while your account exists. Public posts may stay after you leave unless you ask us to remove them.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually seven years.
- Generated calc sheets and their inputs: while your account exists, so you can re-download them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Server logs: as kept by our hosting provider, usually no more than a few months.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your forum profile at any time. You can email us to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and calc sheets; we reply within 30 days. Some purchase records must be kept for tax reasons even after deletion. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, and we will honour them.
Security
Access to data is controlled by Firebase security rules and server-side checks, and payments are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
The Site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Purchases require you to be 18 or older.
Where data is processed
Our providers store and process data in the United States and possibly other countries where they operate.
Changes
We will post any change here and update the date above; for significant changes we will also tell signed-in users.
