Terms of Service and Sale

1. Who we are and these terms

The Bridge Enginerd (the "Site") is operated by Nirav Khanal, a sole proprietor doing business as The Bridge Enginerd ("we", "us"). These terms apply to everyone who uses the Site, including the engineering tools, the Discussions forum and any purchase. By using the Site or buying anything from it you agree to these terms. If you use the Site for an employer or client, you confirm you may accept these terms for them.

2. What the Site offers

• Engineering tools: free calculators for bridge design topics, each with step-by-step hand calculations.
• Explanation calcs: a free printable version of a tool's results and hand calculations.
• Professional calc sheets: a paid, concise PDF calculation package for one set of inputs to one tool, generated on our servers.
• Discussions: a public forum for engineering questions and answers.

3. Engineering use: please read

The tools implement published methods, mainly the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation and owner guidance such as the MoDOT Engineering Policy Guide, as described on each tool's page. They are intended for preliminary design, checking and education.

• Results depend entirely on the inputs you enter and on the assumptions and limits stated on each tool. You are responsible for choosing appropriate inputs and for confirming that the method applies to your structure, your owner's standards and the code edition required for your project.
• Calc sheets and explanation calcs are not sealed and are not engineering services. Any design, rating or submittal that relies on them must be independently checked, and sealed where required, by a licensed professional engineer who takes responsibility for it.
• We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, AASHTO, any state department of transportation, or the authors of methods credited on the tool pages. Codes and standards belong to their publishers; buy and consult the originals.
• We work hard to make the tools correct, but software can contain errors, and codes change. If you find something that looks wrong, please tell us at niravkhanal@gmail.com.

4. Accounts

Some features, including the forum and paid calc sheets, need you to sign in with a Google account through Firebase Authentication. Keep your account secure; you are responsible for activity under it. A purchase or subscription belongs to one person and may not be shared, resold or used by several people through one account. You must be at least 18 years old to buy, and at least 13 to use the Site.

5. Prices, payment and taxes

• Single calc sheet: $20 (USD) for one PDF of one tool with one set of inputs. You can download that PDF again from your account.
• Monthly subscription: $50 (USD) per month, and annual subscription: $500 (USD) per year, each giving unlimited calc sheets for your own professional use while the subscription is active.
• "Unlimited" is subject to fair use: automated, scripted or bulk generation, or generating sheets for other people to use, is not allowed, and we may limit such use.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. Sales tax or other taxes may be added where required.
• We may change prices. A change never affects a purchase already made; for subscriptions it applies from the next renewal after at least 30 days' notice by email.

6. Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or annual period, at the price then in effect, and your payment method is charged until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from your account page or by emailing niravkhanal@gmail.com. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are covered by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

7. Your use of calc sheets

When you buy a calc sheet, or generate one with a subscription, you may use, print, copy and include it in your own project deliverables, submittals and records, including for your employer and clients. You may not sell or distribute calc sheets as a product of their own, offer the Site's output as your own software or service, or remove notices that identify the method or the Site.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to: get around payment or access controls; copy, scrape or bulk-download the Site; reverse engineer the paid calc sheet service; overload or attack the Site; use it for anything unlawful; or post content that is abusive, infringing, misleading or spam. Forum posts must follow the moderation rules shown in the forum.

9. Content you post

You keep ownership of what you post in the forum. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, format and share it on the Site and in search results. Moderators may edit, move, lock or remove posts that break these terms. Do not post confidential project information you are not allowed to share.

10. Our content

The Site's text, design, software and calc sheet format belong to us. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the Site as described here.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site, the tools, explanation calcs and calc sheets are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that results are error-free or suitable for any particular structure or project.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, project costs, delays or the cost of design changes, arising from the Site or its output. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.

13. Indemnity

If you use the Site's output in a design, rating or other professional work, you agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims by third parties arising from that work or from your breach of these terms, except to the extent caused by our own wilful misconduct.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or misuses the Site. You may stop using the Site at any time and may ask us to delete your account. If we end the paid service without cause, we will refund any unused part of a prepaid subscription.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before starting any claim, please contact us at niravkhanal@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally.

16. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes affecting paid users we will give notice by email or on the Site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept it.
